Comprehensive“Physical Check” for CSN’s “Big MAC”
First Domestic A380 6-Year Check at GAMECO

Since 2011, China Southern Airlines has started introducing Airbus 380 aircraftto the fleet. After 6-year’s operation, their first comprehensive “Physical Check” is approaching. On Mar. 1st, 2017, the first domestic 3C check (6-year check) for A380 has started on CSN’s aircraft with registration number B-6136, whose work scope covers 1550 job cards including full painting, weighing, test flight, etc., and will generate up to 100,000 manhours. Total 6,372 items of material and tools will be applied during the check. This aircraft is estimated to leave on Jun 4th, 2017.

 

In order to prepare the 6-year check, GAMECO has made full use of APS concept. A project team was set up in Apr., 2016 for material, tools, equipment, personnel training, and application forairworthiness approval. CSN M&E Department has well prepared the modification kit with 172 items, and GAMECO has handled 3800 items material and 780 tools in advance. The customized scaffolding and access platforms were also ready before the arrival of the aircraft.

 

As introduced, the interval for A380’s structure C check is 24months or 1700 flight cycles (whichever comes first), and the interval for system C check is 12000 flight hours. GAMECO completed the first A380 1C check in 2013 and its first 2C check in 2015.

 

According to the maintenance plan, GAMECO will complete the 6-year check for the other 4A380 aircraft of CSN in the next two years. As 3C check is required to carry out for other global airlines’ A380 fleetin near future, GAMECO should explore more market share of A380 heavy maintenance with abundant experience and competitive advantages.
