GAMECO successfully completed its first largest upgrade of core network platform for CSN A380

On 1st Jan., 2018, combined with 6-year check, GAMECO has accomplished the largest core network platform (NSS\OIS) upgrade. Meantime, GAMCO will complete the platform upgrade for all 5 CSN’s A380 before July 1st, 2018.

 

After the upgrade of A380, various maintenance modules on the platform have been functionally optimized and enhanced, which helps to reduce incidence rate of A380 false information and improves the system stability. In pilot application operation, the upgraded system platform greatly has enhanced the calculation speed of the aircraft calculation module during take-off and landing, and the calculation result is more accurate. It has also added air chart features. The overall availability of the A380's electronic functions has been increased by one grade, improving system reliability, operating speed and functional operability compared to the past, and greatly improving the maintenance efficiency of pilot applications and aircraft maintenance.

 

The platform upgrade is the largest upgrade and modification after the introduction of CSN’s A380, with the longest preparation time, the highest degree of complexity, the largest upgrade span, the most far-reaching platform upgrade work. In a nutshell, the A380 core network platform upgrade is similar to commercial computer system reloading. But it’s much more complicated. A slight deviation is likely to cause installation failure and system crash, or even damage the new server. After careful planning, GAMECO engineers ultimately applied the overall control program - modifying the system and providing application data from the old and new version of system simultaneously.

 

The pre-upgraded server of CSN’s A380 ran very slowly (about 15- 30 minutes), while it only takes3 minutes to start after the upgrade. Running speed of device identification testing, server software synchronization and application module startup is significantly faster. Maintenance efficiency is greatly improved.

 

The accomplishment of the largest A380 platform upgrade in CSN’s history has added new content and highlights to the world-renowned first A380 6-year check all over the world and won the honor for GAMECO.
