GAMECO’s Initiating a New Method domestically to Removethe A320 Landing Gear

Dec. 4, 2017

Recently, GAMECO HM1 & HM2 Dept. successfully removed the main landing gear  of the A330 B-5939 Aircraft with a new set of R/I tools and methods,, marking GAMECO’s innovation of a new main landing gear removal method other than that in AMM (Aircraft Maintenance Manual).

In the past, bracket was generally used to remove A330 landing gear according to the Airbus manual. This method has already accumulated sufficient experience with mature instructions. But this time, GAMECO adopts completely innovative tool and method evaluated by engineering. The difference between the new method and the removal with bracket method is that, neither the four wheels or brakes on the main gear should be removed, nor the brackets be used. Instead of that, the landing gear strut can be supported by the wheel and axle car of the landing gear itself, and the landing gear strut and wheel axle can be adjusted with new tools designed to complete the landing gear removal. It has the advantage of using neither a pallet unit weighing up to 1 ton nor a lifting unit, which saves equipment costs, manpower and man-hours, and also suits well in outstations where no lifting equipment or bracket are not available. Moreover, the entire landing gear removal cycle can be shortened by 2 days, greatly reducing maintenance costs.

The removal of the B-5939 left main landing gear symbolizes the successful application of the new method and the new tool forA330 main gear removal, the first  time in GAMECO and even in China. It provides a new way and great convenience for the future A330 landing gear removal! The joint efforts from GAMECO HM1, HM2, Engineering, Tool Management Dept. boost GAMECO ‘s maintenance capability to the next level.
