GAMECO LDG Facility Groundbreaking in Longwan Qingyuan

GAMECO had a groundbreaking ceremony for the Longwan Aircraft Landing Gear (LDG) overhaul facility in Taiping county, Qingxin district, Qingyuan city in the morning on May 6th, 2015. Officers from the municipal government, district government, industrial management committee and CAAC, as well as the management from CSN and GAMECO attended the ceremony.

The initial investment into this project is over 200 million yuan, covering both facilities in Yingfu and Longwan. Construction in Yingfu already started in December of last year and the today’s Longwan facility will be the home for GAMECO’s new in-house deep repair technologies. It covers an area of over 17 Mu, with construction area of 7,150 square meters. The Longwan facility is designed for LDG repair processes with NDT (Non Destructive Testing) 、machining and chemical surface treatment. A wide range of LDG for Boeing B737 & B777 and Airbus A320 & A330 will be covered. But the facilities in Yingfu and Longwan do not only serve for LDG overhaul, but also for parts removed during heavy maintenance and other aircraft components, if such processes are needed.

 

GAMECO Yingfu facility with ongoing construction covers an area of 45 Mu. The size of the first phase construction is 10,818 square meters, completely designed for the work flow through disassembly、cleaning、repairing、assembly and testing. It also provides apartments for living.

 

According to the plan, the business volume in Qingyuan LDG facility can reach more than 100 ship sets per year, which results in revenue of over 150 million yuan. This facility will become a state-of-the-art, one-stop service center for LDG overhaul and repair business and GAMECO is one of very few domestic MROs that have such in-house capabilities.

 

The general manager of GAMECO Norbert Marx said at the ceremony:” China Southern Airlines is not only a shareholder of GAMECO, but by operating over 600 aircraft in the group, also our biggest customer. LDG are one of the most critical components of an airplane and it needs overhaul every 10 years. CSN’s fleet is at the peak of LDG removal in the coming years, which is a great business opportunity for us. We promise to deliver an excellent quality and short turnaround times at competitive prices to CSN and our other customers ”
