GAMECO Awarded MDA Certificate for China Southern Airlines’ Cabin Upgrade

On Nov. 15th, 2013, Mr. Shi Jun, Section Chief to Airworthiness Approval and Examination Office, CAAC Central and Southern Regional Administration (CSRA), awarded GAMECO B777-21B Aircraft Cabin Upgrade MDA Certificate. Norbert Marx received the certificate on behalf of GAMECO.

 

On receiving cabin upgrade request from China Southern Airlines for its four B777 aircrafts in April, GAMECO set up a specialized modification team immediately. The team overcame difficulties with tight schedule and heavy tasks, and strengthened communicating with CSRA, China Southern Airlines, Suppliers and company departments. In September, the team performed cabin upgrade for the prototype (B-2054) and passed the audit of the authorities successfully.

 

Many items and systems are involved in the upgrade, e.g. replacement of all cabin seats (including the first electric-powered flat seats in China) and installation of power system for passengers, etc.

 

Due to the complexity of the upgrade, it is difficult to make design and obtain certificate. The success of this project not only improves GAMECO’s engineering modification and design capability, but lays a solid foundation to China Southern Airlines to provide more personalized services to the passengers as well.
