The last journey of a B767 and a historic event for GAMECO

                           Dec. 10, 2012

On December 10, 2012,  Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co. Ltd in cooperation with Jet Midwest successfully completed the dismantling of a B767 aircraft at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou.

The aircraft  originally came to GAMECO for a C check but was later declared to be taken out of service by the owner.

It was the first time such a project was executed at Baiyun Airport and faced many challenges at the beginning.  With team effort between Jet Midwest and GAMECO staff, the strong support of the airport authorities and customs office it was finally a success.

Dismantling and recycling of an aircraft is a new territory for our staff, considering to what we usually do, said Norbert Marx, GM of GAMECO. Jet Midwest is very experienced in this business and we learned a lot during this event. Going forward we might benefit from this experience considering the aging fleets in China.
