About Guangzhou  
Guangzhou (Canton), the capital of the Guangdong Province, is the political, economic and cultural center of Southern China. Located at the Tropic of Cancer, the area is characterized by its mild to warm climate. Guangzhou has earned the title of “Flower City” for its almost year round temperate climate, and beautiful greenery.

Guangzhou is famous for its long history and monuments. The symbol of the city is the Five Rams. It tells the history of an ancient tale where five angels mounted on five celestial rams distributed rice to the population, effectively eliminating famine forever. To this date Guangzhou is also know as the “Ram City” in the Chinese history books. An excellent sculpture of the Five Rams can be found in the Yuexiu Park in the city's downtown area.

With over 2,200 years of recorded history and a population of 9 million, served by a state-of-the-art airport, modern roads, rail links and access to the sea via the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou is one of the China's most prosperous Metropolis with a well educated and industrious population. It is also known as a famous trade center, which hosts the “Chinese Export Commodities Trade Fair”, a twice-a-year event in the spring and fall attracting people from all over the world.

Guangzhou is a gourmet's paradise. Cantonese Cuisine is one of the most famous cuisines both in the mainland and abroad, characterized by various and exotic ingredients and materials. The famous Cantonese Dim Sum both sweet and salty originated here. There are over five thousand restaurants in the city offering a broad and rich variety of both Oriental and Western foods.
